CCO ANNOUNCEMENTS FEBRUARY 17 2025

Lee-Ann

FEBRUARY 17, 2025

Family Day - no rehearsal tonight. Enjoy your family - and the snow!

I. REHEARSAL FEBRUARY 24, 2025

For next Monday, Andrew Chung has asked that we rehearse Brahms 1, 2 and 3. Snacks: winds, brass and piano. March 3, snacks from first violins.

II. CHARITABLE RECEIPTS - AVAILABLE UNTIL FEBRUARY 28, 2025

Don’t forget that Counterpoint Community Orchestra depends on donations to cover our expenses every year. Thank you to those who have already donated. And a reminder to those who can help financially that the Government of Canada has extended the deadline to receive charitable tax credits for 2024 to February 28, 2025, to compensate for the mail strike. The CCO issues charitable tax receipts for all donations over $20.00.

If you donate through Canada Helps, your tax receipt will follow automatically: https://forcharities.canadahelps.org. Go on the site and find Counterpoint Community Orchestra (there is another charity that includes the name Counterpoint.)

III. RECORDING OF THE HANDBELL CONCERTO

If you have not already noticed, the recording of our holiday concert has been on the CCO website for some time - in the Musicians’ Only portal:

https://www.ccorchestra.org/forum/general-discussion/recordings-2024-december-concert  We sound great! It is also available on these additional links:

IV. SOMETHING STRANGE & PREPOSTEROUS IS FAST APPROACHING

Our March 22 concert, “Strange & Preposterous?”, is just over a month away. Programme: A Strange and Preposterous Affair, by Canadian composer Kathryn Knowles; Concentus Brevis for Oboe and String Orchestra by Mathilde Capuis‬, featuring CCO’s fantastic principal oboist Elizabeth Brown; and Symphony No. 1 by Johannes Brahms.

The concert posters should be available for pickup at the February 24 rehearsal. Please get ready to post them in your neighbourhood cafes and notice boards. Please also plan to bring cookies - we’ll have donation jars on the cookie tables during intermission. There will also be a 50/50 raffle again, so bring your lucky charm to the concert. If you know anyone eager to join our team of concert volunteers, please forward the name and contact information to emitchell1727@gmail.com.
